I have panther and about 3000 songs all mp3s and about 50 itune music store purchased songs but when i click add to libary it shows up as 5000 songs(alot of duplicates) is their a way i can get rid of all those duplicates? I know you can you show duplicate songs but that would take me hours to get rid of all of the duplicates.

My small 60gb powerbook hd cant take it :wtc:

be careful about that--the method for finding duplicates is very crude and will list non-duplicates as well (i.e. songs that have "interlude" as the title from different albums).

I have a lot less duplicates than you, but i just deleted them manually a few days ago. About 400 of them in fact.

I find that most of the dups are because I have a playlist saved in the same folder as well so it loads that. Search for *.m3u

I have about 6k songs and when it's time to reorganize my collection I find it easier to clear out the iTunes list & reload them.
