I want to take my non purchased music files from my iPod, and put them onto my computer so that when I clean out my pod, the files I transferred are still available.

iTunes seems not to offer such a capability for non-purchased items.

Is there a way to get around this? I've tried burning cd's but there is no button in the lower left when I'm in the iPod's library...

Thanks for any and all help/advice.

i need to pull almost 80 gigs off of my black 80gig ipod, so I can take it to Worst Buy and get the headphone input replaced and data/charger input replaced as well. Worst Buy customer service told me to bring it on in, but when I got there the guy told me that I may lose all my music/data during the repair.... FFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUU. anyways, since all my music I own is on this thing, it needs to come off.

    winamp does this now?

This isn't really that hard. Browse your iPod in explorer w/ hidden/system files shown and pull them onto your computer. Then simply have iTunes sort/rename the mp3 files.

Alternately, spend 5 seconds on google to find another way to do it.

    Clearly not.

Really don't know what's so hard about using Winamp.

    1. Install winamp (has ipod capability built in)
    2. Plugin ipod
    3. Tell Itunes to fuck off
    4. Open Media Library in Winamp (ALT+L)
    5. Open ipod, right click & select 'Copy to local library'.
