So wrestling preseason starts tomorow and i am stoked as all get out. My kids this year are going to rock. We have almost our enitire roster returning this season. Last year was a little rough due to all the newbies but we should be a powerhouse this time. Out of a team of 32 kids last year 75% were first timer 7th graders. Went and looked at the sign up sheet and every one of them has signed up again plus about another 15 more 7th graders. Shit there are two 8th graders that weigh as much as me (175) and thy are not creame puffs.

Now I just got to get these little bastards to sprawl and defend the shot better. They got taken down like crazy last year. Also need to work on defending the half better as well.:x:

Anyways just wanted to talk about something a little different here.

Anyone else coach or work with high or mid school wrestling?

Yes, I coach wrestling. I coach at the high school level and then I coach little kids.

I seriously wish I would have wrestled in high school. It was about the only sport paid any attention to in Ohio.

A buddy of mine coaches up in Richmond for free as well.

I don't think sports coaches for the schools here make any money either.

I got offered the HS head coach job and that one pays like 2k a season. Their season is almost 5 months though. No way I could swing that with my work. So the mid school season is only 2 months so that works out great but ya no pay for me either. I do it because I like to teach/coach. I also teach welding at University of New Mexico Los Alamos and that pays dog shit too...
