    the idea of a 'small diesel' in a 1/2 ton is retarded nowadays with emissions restrictions, subsequent higher price because of emissions, diesel prices, etc.

    its more practical just to have a nice gas engine. if you want the diesel, go for the 3/4 ton

    this is true. That 5.3L is very good on gas, considering what it is. They need to start making the 6L80/6L90 standard in all v8 half-tons.

    4.5L for half-tons in 2010.

    But with diesel adding thousands to the MSRP and being so expensive I'd rather have the 6.2L Vortec.
