    Nope. You've obviously never tried boiling water. Cosmo just wipes off. Most of it stays in the water anyways

    The surface cosmo is easy to get off, it's the cosmo deep down in the wood which is a pain in the ass, mineral spirits penetrate the wood and get out every last drop of it. Finish it off with some boiled linseed oil or tung oil and you're good to go :cool:

    I guess the boiling water melts the cosmo though and it seeps out from the wood as if you were using a heat gun.

    This is why I like buying from Big 5. Neither of my Mosins needed more than a quick wipe down. I think I spent 15 minutes total between the two of them.
