I'm a noob at this stuff, so not sure what everything does... basically I'm most concerned with the trigger, what upgrades can I get that make a nice smooth trigger pull? I've read of a number of different trigger upgrades, but not many descriptions on them, so I'm kind of at a loss. Also, is it fairly easy to install these myself?

Grips. Buying an aftermarket grip, will this help prevent against tightening of my fingers which pulls my groupings, or are these generally just for better fitting of the hand with no real advantage?

Any other cheap, but necessary upgrades I may not even know about? I figured I'd give my parents this as a list for birthday ideas since there isn't anything else I need from them...

The best upgrade for your g19 is lots of ammo, lots of practice, and training courses if you can foot the bill for them. :dunno:

all of those are taken care of for me... so beyond that... what else can I do? Do you have a mother who will call you every 12 hours asking for a list of things you want for christmas/birthday? Yeah, I do... it kind of sucks, I need to figure something out, and I'm not a 'wanty' person, so I figured this type of stuff might actually be useful.

If it is a carry piece then leave it alone.

If it s a range gun then do what you want. I had a Hogue Hand-all on my 19 for a while, but it sucked. If anything it made my grip worse.

On my 17 which is my USPSA gun I put on Tru-Grip precut grip tape, and installed a Vanek trigger, which are both "best in class" IMO.

Here's what I did to my Glock 19:
    1) 25 cent trigger job: http://www.alpharubicon.com/mrpoyz/glock/
    2) Glock Smooth Face Trigger ($12)
    3) 3.5# connector ($15)
    4) NY1 (olive) trigger spring ($3)

The above mods with a lot of dryfiring and range time have lead to a very consistent and smooth trigger pull.

There is nothing wrong with the gun. Spend some money on the shooter.

You can avoid the temptation to turn your dependable mangun into a bitchy, gold digging pussypistol.

Got a good holster and belt?

As far as training goes, that's the best bang for your buck right now.
Any of the big schools are great, Thunder Ranch, Gunsite, or even Frontsight. Yeah, I know they are a bit nutty, but the training really is first rate.
Get one of those front sight certificates on ebay.
Just don't swallow their membership kool-aid.

    http://cgi.ebay.com/2000-Front-Sigh...ryZ14110QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

    Get a $1000 class for $200, plus a $50 "background check" fee.
Plus, get an excuse to go to vegas.

Well, in that case it sounds like you've got training all squared away.

Exactly what I said... I've got the funds for range/ammo/training coming from my own pocketbook, I'm just looking for ideas to give my parents so they don't call me every day looking for something they can get me for my birthday, not to mention those training classes are a bit more than I want them to spend for my gift, I'd like to (and have been) take care of that myself. So now that we understand that I'm already paying for training for myself, lets get beyond that and into what the topic at hand is... what are good trigger upgrades for a g19 that are readily available so my mother who knows nothing about guns can still purchase the item?

Trigger mods on a G19 are no upgrade.

Do you have a good white light? That might be a good idea.

Man when I first got my glock -- I got all the mags, all the little extras.

I had your backstrap filler slug plug which added 20+ horsepower to the discharged round. I had the stainless steel guiderod which allowed me to group 10 rounds in one hold at 30 yards. I had the 3.5 lb trigger bar which let me fire the weapon MENTALLY.

    My glock was bad ass.

    Still couldn't hit shit captain.

I still have the guiderod because it's an easy way to identify MY postol if it ever gets mixed up. And the only reason I have the 3.5lb trigger bar is because I recieved it free from LoneWolf as a promotion.

Next up is the Intermediate Pistol class at my range, and CCW. After that I'm planning to go to low light before advanced.

If you're going to CCW, then don't customize it... leave it the hell alone. Put some night sights on it maybe, but that's it.
