I was going to shoot some moving bike shots tonight but I opted to stay warm and dry instead.

How do you get the perfectly white background like that? Any shots of your set up? (yes noob when it comes to that stuff)

White seamless paper. Two softlights on either side. Hold on...I'll shoot a pic of my set up in a minute.

pic of set up. seamless is rolled out onto my pool table. Strobe on left is a Sunpack 383 shooting thru a photoflex chimera. Strobe on right is a big photogenic strobe shooting thru a rather large chimera.

I've shot some great pics with nothing but window light. Use what you have and make it work.

kill the speculars in one and two and you're on to something.

How would go about doing that? In the first one I think maybe moving the lights farther back around the vase might do the trick but the flowers pic is a bit of a challenge. Maybe fly some flags???

EDIT: tried moving the lights farther around behind but that didn't work. I think I need to bounce the light off of long pieces of white foamcore. That should kill the highlights.

When I shoot my ceramics for my portfolio, if I find a specular that is not flattering or is distracting to the form of my work I use tiny little touch of chap stick to help tone down the reflection. I can't say it will help on two, but it certainly will on the first one. Just use a tiny tiny tiny little bit.

Love the shots though man I'd love them more if it was my pieces and not wall mart mass produced pottery from Korea. J/K
