I hate the winter, and now that its over i can get back to taking pictures and enjoying traveling & photograpy. I havn't really touched my camera since last Oct/Nov. :noes:.

Im going to Hawaii on Monday :bigthumb: ... and i can't wait. Should come back with some excellent shots.

Gotta run out and get a 4 pack of eneloops and another 8 or 16 gig cf card.

    Taking the Gripped D300, 10.5 2.8, 17-55 2.8, 70-200 2.8, and still deciding whether im going to take the 35 f/2 or 50 f/1.8.

Any recommendations on where to go in Oahu?

    Lugging the 70-200 ftl.

I'd bring the 10.5 and 17-55 and be done with it.

werd... 70-200 is almost not needed in a great looking setting like that. 17-55 should do you just fine.

christ you had better visit Wikiki Beach and takes pics of Diamondhead. Climb Diamondhead. Snorkling, and views from above of Hanuama Bay are:bowdown:. Anywhere on the North Shore:bowdown:. Sharks Cove/3 Tables is a great diving spot with a blow hole if the tide is right:bowdown:.

And of course Pearl Harbor, the Arizona, the Missouri, Ford Island, Aloha Stadium. Pali Lookout:bowdown:

I was stationed in Pearl Harbor for 3 years, and if I was there now these are things I'd love to have photos of.

    This is one of those situations where 70-200 f4 > 70-200 f2.8

I've been to Hawaii twice. I tended to use the wider end.

Haven't been to Oahu in a while but isn't the Pali pretty much shut down now? All the drug dealing and gang shit going on there made them close it up? North shore FTW, although since Matsumoto's closed you'd have to get your shave ice at one of those other shops. Haleiva, Hanuama Bay, even the polynesian cultural center is fun the first time.

I was stationed there in 95-98 so I was just naming places I remember that were considered "scenic" stuff. The Pali Lookout was always one of the popular ones.
