I'm not sure how many of you remember my thread a few months back, talking about how I was planning on taking my girlfriend to the clinic to have an abortion.

With MUCH help from the asylum, and a few friends, I decided not to go through with it and last night my girlfriend gave birth to a 7-pound 11-ounce baby girl named Olivia.

It brings me to tears to think about the horrible mistake I almost made.

    Thanks asylum!

    How much are DNA tests?

It's something I want to do. I agree that you can never be too sure.

Congrats. Love the name. Hope you make the right decision with the girlfriend and everything. Remember, do what's right for the child.

Don't look a gift horse in the mouth. If you haven't already done it, celebrate by marrying your daughters Mother. You're life has just gotten to the top of the on-ramp to the highway of life. Hit the accelerator and enjoy the ride.

:hsugh: What if he's not in love with the mother...No one has to get married just because a child is involved.

No, no one has to get married. Neither is love the emotional charge we associate with storybooks, or Hollywood musicals. The power of that emotional magnet often fails when faced with the realities of day-to-day living. If you don't believe me, ask any divorce attorney who drives a BMW and lives in a McMansion. Love is something that is built up over a long period of time. No matter how compatible a couple might be, after five or six years of dealing with little annoyances, the magic of "love" is worn very thin. Hard times, shared effort to meet and overcome challenges are more important to love, than ecstasy in the bedroom. Building a long-term relationship is learning to take pleasure in being responsible for another, especially when things aren't going well. Maturity is the foundation on which lasting love is built, and maturity is a gradual process.

I'm just going to guess you've never read any of Socrates' previous posts on his relationship....and leave it at that.

Still congrats on the daughter Socrates!
