Item is "in use" and cannot be used...

    But they're .avi files. I took my external over to a friend's house and got about 80 dvd rips from him. Like 2/3 of them work, the other ones have a white piece of paper for their icon (instead of the quicktime logo), and whenever you click on them it says

    "The Item "[movie name]" is in use by OSX and cannot be opened.


    Any ideas? I can't delete them or ANYTHING, not even edit the file name."

    I just didn't want to download all the movies so I just copied them from him, and at this point it's starting to seem like the only way for me to get it off is by reformatting the entire hard drive, which I realllly don't want to do.
