Ok, whenever I get an itch or bug bite on any of my tats the outline stands out a bit like it's 3-D. Only the outline is affected not the color/shading. Does anyone have any idea what causes this reaction??

  2. Most likely because the artist used the "tribal" black to outline it with. Its a lot thicker and darker than the normal black. So the ink is not as spread out under your skin like the other colors are. Some of mine do that too.

what does that have to do w/a bug bite or itch? my skin/tats are fine till they itch. then that area of the outline raises up a little.

  5. he did have a good point. thicker ink and scar tissue both raise when they've been irritated.

umm.. if you get a bug ite or scratch anywhere on your body the skin will raise up (on some people anyways)
its just irritated and slightly inflamed tissue.. no biggie

I know it's no big deal. I just though it was odd that only the outline was affected(at least that was the only noticeable spot) so I was curious as to what caused that reaction. Scar tissue kind of makes sense, but none of my "real" scars do that.??

i have same problem its nothing to worry about it seems to only happen on tatoos where the artist went a little deeper into the skin

Was it a home made tat or one done at a shop???
Any TATTUZ can raise or get puffy, some can do this for a period of up to 6 years, some colors are more prone to this puffing up.
1 in 3000 can have a severe reaction to the color red. one of my TATS would puff up in the sun, after 3 years or so it stopped doing that.

They were all done in a clean shop. I'm up to 17 or 18 I think. I need a digi cam to post some pics..
