you'll probably get it in the next couple of days

...did you choose the pay by Credit Card option? It sped mine up pretty quick. it was two weeks from mailing to getting the license.

I now have a CZ52 because of it

yeah I did pay by CC and they processed it 4 days after I mailed it.

    I want my M1 Garand :)

I did have a wierd problem which is maybe holding it up, but I haven't heard anything. I send copy 2 to my CLEO as instructed, and they sent it back to me with a letter stating they don't handle these anymore, that ATF does., so I sent copy 2 to ATF with a photocopy of the CLEO's letter.

    That's your problem I bet.

Q: A copy of the C&R form 7 gets sent to my local CLEO. What happens to that copy? Are they required to keep it on file, or, if I do not raise any red flags, do they just destroy them?

A: The CLEO must be notified of your intent to collect. As is stated in the form it requires no action on their part. However, should they have information that may disqualify the applicant from obtaining the license, they should contact us [the ATF].

You might have to resubmit it to the CLEO and gently explain/remind that they don't "process" anything.

Which agency did you take it to? I had read that the CLEO would be whoever responded to your house if you dialed 911, so I assumed it was the police department. I took it there, and they said they didnt handle it, the sheriffs dept. did, so I took it to them. They ended up having the sheriff sign it, and told me to mail it in to the ATF. I tried to explain that it was their file copy, and showed them the little paragraph that said "FOR CLEO USE, NO ACTION IS REQUIRED ON YOUR PART, etc" and they still told me that I was wrong and that I had to mail it in. I kept it and stuck it in my file cabinet. All you have to do is notify the CLEO of your intent to get the license.

i don't think you understand me. I sent copy 2 to my CLEO like the form says. A few days latter I received my copy 2 back in the mail from my CLEO saying they don't handle those anymore and that the ATF does. So then I mailed copy 2 to the ATF along w/ a photocopy of the sherrif's letter and a letter to the ATF saying hey i sent it as instructed and this was their response. and that was like 3 weeks ago.

They charge you as soon as they get it, so that's why they charge so quick.

To the threadstarter, you may want to give them a call, and see if you need to re-apply as the CLEO is a fuctard and doesn't know what's going on.
