Ok, so a user submitted a graphic to be used on the site. It's now being used. Then another guy comes and leaves a comment that the image is stolen. Pretty unprofessional of him to just post it in public instead of contacting me in private.

I left him a message to contact me with proof of originality, what else can I do? Should i just remove the image?

:werd: no reason to piss off other users of your site or potential users, especially when it is a forum and they can post shit about your site and turn people against you

it's not really a forum, they are just wordpress comments. the image is actually a huge part of the functionality of the site.

i really dont want to remove it just because some random guy is bitching about it and probably isnt his image to begin with. ofcourse, if its such a hassle, ill probably just delete, but lets see what others have to say.

Your reply in the comments is fine, i'd wait for them to actually prove it or do something a bit more proper than just go "lulz u stolez it!"

user submitted content keeps you in the clear for it legally.. so you could ignore it. you're better off removing it, though. i also sincerely doubt they have a copyright on it, or released it under any certain terms. if someone just got bored in photoshop and posted it on a forum with no specific terms to agree to when downloading.. you're good to go.

but it may hurt your rep. wait till your site's bigger to start being a dick. :mamoru:

    You can:

1 - Remove it. Done deal, no more thinking involved FTW.
2 - Make him submit a proper DMCA request hahahahahahaha, which will waste their time.
