Once 40% of the 5D MKII owners have issues, then I'll start worrying. Til then, I don't give a hoot about 1 guy.

I received mine the first week of December, but in the last two weeks I've had three different cards suddenly go south in the camera, thought it was just a fluke but I wonder if there is some sort of issue with the camera or firmware. No grip on mine.

Basically on my unit the card shows not formatted, then the camera is unable to format the card again, however plugging the card into my PC or MAC shows the files fine.

The team at luminous-landscape went on an expedition to (I think) around the south pole, they were using a massive array of different camera equipment, including x26 5D Mark II's.

Of those 26, 6 of them died during the trip. Apparently due to humidity getting in the camera rather than the cold.

5D Mark II seems to have weather sealing issues.

I have a 5D Mark II myself now and i'm taking it to some remote (COLD) villages in Japan, I intend to play it safe and i'm wrapping the camera with moisture absorbing rags and silica gel's in the bag! At least until this (possible) issue is confirmed or denied.

someone here in TX was complaining about that, said it wouldn't format the card, but it would format in his older camera...he was going to send the card back to the manufacturer as he thought it was a card issue

edit: upon reading again, his was a 1D Mark III :dunno:

Haha, still love mine, just have to be mindful when shooting important things to bring a backup, hopefully a firmware fix clears things up. I didn't think I'd use the video feature a lot but I've made good money from that side of the camera in the short time I've had it.
