    just bought a sp-310 7.1mp olympus.
i keep getting these three white dots that come up on all shots (visible mostly in darker shots). i'm just curious if anyone knows what they are.

someone told me it's likely that the ccd has dust on it? not sure if that would be correct. it's still within the 14 day exchange period, so i can always get a new one if it's defective.

heres a sample: the photo is from a 3072x2304 image. i just cropped out the part with the dots so as to not clog bandwidth.

Are these dots visible in all pictures? If yes, you got yourself two dead pixels in your sensor.

i had used the auto setting with no flash, so i didnt even know what iso it was on to be honest.

i'll see what happens when i change the iso to lowest

still there on all iso settings.
to be honest, i dont know much about iso/f/shutter settings in regards to noise. i played with it in brighter environments and can get good shots, but you cant see them as well when in good light.

it's just that i've taken about 150 photos in the last 9 days that i've owned it, and in the last 4 days is when it's started showing up the most

talked to a woman at olympus.

she basically told me that the ccd is likely defective (based on what i've explained to her) and that i should return it to the retailer and have it replaced.

well that was easier than i thought
