So a few years back I was pretty heavy. I'm 5'9" and when I graduated college in 2006 I was 225lbs. Got down to 180lbs on Weight Watchers. Slowly have inched back up. I was 208lbs 2 weeks ago and decided it was time for a change.

    Things I've done:

    1. Increased activity. I'm now walking to school (grad school) instead of driving. 1.3 miles each way, 4 days a week. As an added bonus I feel much more awake when I get to school, and I haven't felt like I need a nap in the afternoon like I was taking last semester.

    2. Cut out soda. I was only drinking diet soda, so zero calorie, but water is better. Caffeine is now down to just a cup of coffee in the morning. Been off this for a week and not missing it at all.

    3. Improved diet. No more fried food, no bacon, no chorizo, no cream sauces. Whole wheat pasta, brown rice, lean meats. Smaller portions, fruit for snacks.

Got on the scale today and I was 201lbs, so 7 pounds over 2 weeks, 3.5lbs a week thus far.

Spring break is in 5 weeks, my goal is to be 190 by then. 180 by the end of the semester.

I'll log stuff here when I remember it.

    Typical meals:

    Breakfast:
Oatmeal and a Banana on school days
Egg beaters and turkey bacon on weekends, sometimes in a wheat tortilla

    Lunch:
Sandwich, chicken, turkey, or lean roast beef
    Water
    Apple

    Dinner:
Varies, but leaner than the junk I used to eat.

I don't know how some of you guys do the same stuff every day, I'd go crazy.

    Tonight:
    Baked Salmon, brown rice, veggies.

    193 today

Stepped up the activity level. The snow/rain here's ruined my walk plans. Using the treadmill as a substitute. 4.5mph on a good incline for 20 minutes at a time 6 days a week.

I want 190 by next Friday, I think I'm going to make it!
