I ate 1.5 cups of white rice (uncooked) today which is about 1200 calories. I'm trying to bulk but am concerned it might constitute too much of my 3000 calorie diet. It's not empty if it's a source of carbs right?

It's not a waste. You can stay fairly lean and fuel your daily requirements.

    You're talking about 1.5 cups precooked right? Still I don't think that's 1200 calories.

    Check your info again.

    but there is clean bulking.

sure, you'll get big eating hamburgers and shakes - but not all in the right ways.

    as for the topic...

I was all about the brown rice thinking it made a difference. As said, white rice is fine. I noticed no difference really, other then getting a bit more fiber in my diet. A few people here have pushed me in that direction - and i hardly feel bad about getting white rice when i'm anywhere

Not bad. I ate a cup (precooked) every day and maintained a lean 165 lbs. pretty easy 3-4 years back.

Yeah, I took the nutrition info straight from the rice bag.

Anyways, I had all this rice in my pantry so I thought it would be a decent substitute for pasta on most days. Plus I think it tastes better. :yum:

This is 1.5 Cups DRY. You realize that yields like 4-6 cups cooked, right?

1.5 precooked white rice isn't a poor choice.

Get some bulgogi or galbi and eat it together for some serious anabolic properties.

You have a good ratio of carbs/protein/fat when you have all that together.

If you are striving for Xg of carbs and 230g of that comes from white rice it really doesn't matter as long as you're keeping your desired macros and overall caloric intake straight.

However, I would be worried about how much fiber you're getting. White rice is one the least fibrous carbs out there. Unless the rest of your carbs are coming from high fiber sources like oats, fruit, veges, etc... I would start supplementing some rice for higher fiber carb sources.
