I was wondering if anyone could guide me to some places where I could read about the change that took place from civil war style paying people to fight for you to an enlistment program where people were proud to fight, to join the army.
If we contrast that to today, we see that many ex-military are joining private security companies making over a hundred-thousand a year. They are getting a lot of funding etc, does this change mean anything to you? Do you feel as if it is a corrupt way of fighting and has an effect on the army?

Just a note: there have always been private companies that provide security services to governments, companies, and individuals. These companies have always sought out men with skills and experience gained during military service. This is nothing new.
