is too much artic silver 5 bad

    it said cover the chip evenly so im afraid i have too much on there?

    anyone have experience with too much or am i gonna be ok

    Applying too much of any brand of thermal compound is bad practice. The rule of thumb is to try and apply a thin as possible layer between the cpu and heatsink. Just apply a small droplet and spread it evenly across the chip.

    Too much or too little will lead to high temps.

    ok so how should i go about taking it off so i can start from scratch

    Wipe with tissue, use some rubbing alcohol to clean it if you have them on hand, but not absolutely necessary. Reapply.
