I have a work PC that runs Win XP Pro, and most of the time I am working from one of my macs using Remote Desktop Connection. Is it a really bad idea to open up the remote desktop port on my router for a few hours so that I can do this from the outside? Do I need to do some ssh port forwarding instead? I'm concerned about security, of course, but I also want to get some usable performance as well.

Just use logmein.com and avoid holes in the firewall.
