Looks pretty good to me. I'd like to see how that view would look while the sky still has some color in it like just as the suns setting.

yeah def, only prob is the sun sets behind me... so it's tough to find a nice sky behind that perspective

That would be perfect. I was just meaning catching the scene while it still has some blue or purple in it. It would give more definition to the horizon. Just after the sun has dipped below your horizon.

hehe the rain left my area finally about 6pm EST. Try it on a blue sky day at about 8-9 and it might be cool. The sun might be below the horizon, but since our atmosphere is a spherical shape it bends the light and dust/water vapor scatters the light around making some really nice colors for our pictures.

pelfed, half cutoff reflection is distracting, cut most of it off, or capture it all.

Your horizon not being leveled. Made famous by a member named "pelf", his pictures were never level.

You actually go somewhere for the purpose of taking pictures. I need to do that some more. :o

I only take pictures when I'm at somewhere for something else, I can't get myself to get out just for photos.

thanks! yeah it is tough for me to get horizons straight at night. it also seemed the monument had a leaning effect compared to the WW2 memorial in front of it

yeah i just got in to the DSLR world. trying to get better so when i'm in places i want good pics (like europe in 2 months) i won't suck totally

Well, it's definitely boring enough. This should have been shot portrait and not with the Capitol poking out the side like a growth. This also might be a good candidate for a composite shot to properly expose the monument and a little of the surroundings.

then don't shoot it /crop it. Half a reflection is distracting.
