I was at the mall today and they had some photoshoot for some advertising I guess and they were taking pics of some lady eating and stuff. Talk about rolling deep, they had atleast a 20-25 people staff. Is that really needed?

You've never been around an advertising photo shoot before have you?

Probably 2/3 or 3/4 of the people wouldn't have anything to do with the photographer. Depending on what they are shooting, there could be everyone from an art director or media buyer to a project/product manager or or even non-essentials like designers or junior personnel or interns.

The photographer was more than likely just as :ugh: as you were.

Welcome to the world of corporate advertising.

yup, advertising shoots can be fairly large productions. Some of the productions i'm on average about 10-12 people, and have been up to about 35 or so.

It starts to add up, when you've got the photographer, assistants, digital tech, set stylist, wardrobe stylist, hair stylist, make up artist, producer, client etc and all of them may have assistants also. Then there's talent of course, and if the talent is a minor you have the guardian and the studio teacher, etc...

You think that's a big production, try being on set of a film shoot. They've got people dedicated specifically to what would seem to be simple jobs, but that's all they do the entire time.

Ask to do the shoot for them? .... Tell them you'll do it for 60% of what the current photographer is charging. :mamoru:
