Basically, to help give you guys an idea, the car is an 04 Sonic Blue stang. So, it does 'change' colors depending on the angle and light that shows on the car. The colors can be a dark blue, a light blue, and a purple shade.

As you can see this picture

    The paint looks kinda blotchy

but on the close up picture, on the hood, (if you ignore the dust and paint chips)

the paint looks kinda like it was powdercoated because you see a lot of 'flakes'

So, my question is (regarding the first picture) is that why it looks kinda blotchy or something?

First pic, that is orange peel. This should give you an idea what it is:

Sadly, very normal with factory paints. Until people start to refuse cars with excessive orange peel, it won't change. Factory clear coats aren't really meant to be wetsanded and from what I can see in the picture, you can't safely wetsand enough clear off the car to remove all the orange peel.

The blotchiness is called Orange Peel :(

Powdercoating almost always looks smooth because it actually melts and smooths/evens out as part of the powdercoating process (when it's baked in an oven)

So that is preventing my car from looking extra good and not like a transparent mirror :(

Thank-you for all your help, Scottwax and thanks guys
