    News Release July
    23, 2003

WaterCar Inc. announces its successful completion of their first prototype
high performance amphibious vehicle capable of going speeds of 100+ MPH on
land and 35+ MPH on water.
The fiberglass amphibious vehicle is based on a 2002
Convertible Camero body style. It is powered by a rear mounted high
performance 2.5 liter engine capable of producing 300 H.P. along with a
Berkeley jet drive and place diverter. Its' four-wheel independent
suspension retracts by a single switch for the water mode operation. The
center-mounted removable ski pole along with the wake it creates make it
ideal for wakeboarding or skiing. This sporty four-seater makes it
possible to drive to the lake, experience an exhilarating boat ride and
drive back home again without ever leaving your car.
WaterCar, Inc. is looking into the feasibility of producing the
    car in kit form.

Attached are photos of the amphibious vehicle in action.

    I dont know ..

Even if its real I dont see how safe it would be from a design stand point. The bow would cause it to submarine as soon as you came off the throttle. Any one that has spent a day on a 18 ft boat water sking will tell you that. [IMG] Here is the original Amphiacar, note the bow needed to acheive a safe cruise?

The other part is the packaging. You have a power plant making 300 hp. That takes up room. Its going to have to be an radiator cooled designed for street use. How are you going to get it to cool while in water? If you try to force water threw its its very restrictive. The water flow at 30 MPH will crush over the fins. Plus were are you going to put it? In the bow? So much for Hydo dynamics. Then you have a retractable suspension , a transmission , BTO for the jet drive plus the drive it self. I find it hard to believe that all fits in the trunk space of a camaro ( even a fiber glass shell) Dont even try to tell me the engine is up front,( see Submarine up top) Its going to have to carry at least 15 gallons of gas just to drive it around the lake, open wheel wells in water make a lot of drag and poor fuel consuption.

The center pics looks fake. It just doesnt look right. You have cavitaion at the rear, supposely from a berkley jet but you have no disturbance of flow at the bow or around the wheels. Its going to take more than a couple pics and a tag line to make me go for it.

The pics are definately photoshopped. Pretty shitty job too. If by some chance the photos are real, they are some of the strangest i've ever seen.

You couldn't wakeboard behind that thing, the wake looks too small.
