So I've to get a notebook for college. So far I've basically only been looking at lenovo.

Wondering, if this CPU will be good to do virtualization (Windows Vista and Ubuntu say) and to compile (big) things. Laptop has 1Gb RAM, but I intend to up that to 2Gb.

I compile (big) things on my old Athlon XP 2600+, this CPU will be significantly faster right? That's all I need to know. (any ideas like, 2x, 3x?)

CPU is Intel Centrino Duo Core 2 Duo T5600 (1.83GHz). FSB is 667 MHz. 2MB L2 cache.
    Laptop: Lenovo ThinkPad T60 http://www.bwcl.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=2776
What would the battery life be like in that?

Would I do better to look for/pay more for a better CPU and what should I be looking at.

    Dankes.

edit: fuck me the laptops @ http://shop.lenovo.com/us/notebooks/thinkpad/t-series are WAY better and cheaper (even pre-sale) . . .

Battery life with the T60/61s is pretty crappy. I'd definitely get the extended battery if you were planning on being mobile fairly often.

Actually, battery life on all the Lenovos has been pretty crappy lately. I've got a couple of X tablets in my office and we're lucky if they can run an hour unplugged.
