On an AR15 a commercial stock will fit both mil spec and commercial tubes but a mil spec stock will only fit the mil spec tube.

Edit: not looking for replies from Werm or dpixel8, TIA.

If you did that you'd have rattle, but yea you could potentially. The commercial tube has a bigger diameter then mil spec. So you could potential put a mil spec on there but there will be more space in between. Also note the differences in the butt pad when making your decision because the commercial buffer tube has that slant in the back/is longer.

No, I just said it in reverse on accident. I said yes to his question but mixed up com and mil spec in what you pointed out.

I even posted a picture which would be contradictory to what I said, but I did indeed say you could to his question

That second bolded sentence should read: "So you could potential put a comm spec on there but there will be more space in between"

In terms of putting a comm spec on mil tube, like he was asking.

What does the buffer tube do in the first place? Eat up recoil? Do fixed stocks have it too??

commercial is cheaper to manufacture. one insnt 'better' than the other, they just fit dfferent size stocks.
