Is this a hardware or a programming problem

    Everytime I play youtube or some other streaming video, my laptop overheats. Then shuts down.

    well it doesn't help that youtube sucks, or that your laptop sucks :dunno:

    if it's shutting down because of heat, it's hardware causing the heat.. but it could potentially be poor software somewhere causing something to overheat :noes:

    blow out your vents with canned air, make sure all the vents have air

    Are you sure it is overheating and not just shutting down for some other reason?

    Youtube isn't overly computer intensive, compared to a game or something, so it shouldn't be doing that unless you've blocked all your vents or are using your laptop while in an oven.
