    300D + kit lens ------------------------ 680

    +

    EF 50mm f/1.8 II -----------------------70

    +

    sigma 70-300mm f/4 - 5.6 APO --------------------179

    ??

total should come out to just below a grand
after a week of reseach and searching, this is the best bang for buck combo i could find, do you have any suggestions? comments?

i decided to get the sigma rather then the canon 75-300 because i read it is just as good?? plus its $90 cheaper :hsd:

i'm willing to go $200 more to replace the lenses i chose, any ideas?

the 300D kit lens only goes to 55mm so you'll be missing the 55-70 range. I prefer the Tamron 28-300mm lens but it runs around $379 I believe.

you'll replace the sigma as fast as you can. the canon 70-200 F/4 is the best bang for the buck in the telephoto side. Don't worry about the 55-70 gap, thats what legs are for. The Tamron 28-75 F/2.8 XR Di is another best lens for the buck, but it overlaps the 50 and 18-55

I'm probably the worng person to ask on that one. To me thats like asking do you want to die by fire or drowning.

i would read the reviews section at www.fredmiranda.com you'll get actual photographers experience with the different lenses and can compare them that way.

The Canon 55-200 USM II is an excellent lens for the money. I would get it before I got the Sigma 70-300. It and your kit lens will give you a good, working combo from 18-200. Get these and don't worry about replacing until you know why you should. By then you will be able to use a better lens.

Then save up. Don't bother with that 70-300 or whatever it was. Just save your money till you can get the L glass. Its an incredible lens for under $600.

I picked one up a couple weeks ago and love it. Plus you can find them used for about $500 shipped on FredMiranda.com
