I found a guy selling a 20d with 1000 actuations, battery grip, 2 1gig cards and 2 batteries for $1050. Would you take it for that price?

    1000 actuations?

I don't know what that is, but the rest sounds like a pretty good deal..

    grip ~ $140
    memory cards ~ $80-100
batteries ~ $50-90 (depending if OEM or generic)

so the accessories are ~ $270-330, making the body around $720-$780, damn good deal if it's only 1000 clicks. I got a 20D with 19k clicks for $770 several months ago.

on a non 1D body you can't, it's just estimates or based upon the image count on the memory card.

actuations are the amount of times the shutter opened.

and yes, this sounds like a great deal.

Can't you check the EXIF data of a photo? It works with my Nikon, but I've never tried it with a Canon.

That information is provided only on some camera models.

may be it's Canons way of saying "spend more on a 1D series body so you can keep track of the camera clicks".... bastards. All it would take is a few hours of coding and $0.50 in parts on the circuit board assembly on the low-mid end models.

If you need something wider than 28mm on a 1.6x crop body, the Tamron 17-50 f/2.8 is also a good choice.
