OK so I've got a laptop but I want to jack up the volume a bit more. Sometimes it's just not loud enough. Are there applications out there that can do stuff like this???? Amplify the sound a bit more???

go into the bios and see if the volume is all the way up.

Laptop speakers are usually about 2" around. There is just a limit to how much good sound you can get out of a smurf speaker. Creative and some other companies make external speakers for laptops and other small devices.

2"? What kind of mammoth laptop do you have? that's huge for a laptop speaker?

That being said, the speakers on my Compaq Presario R3000Z put out some pretty serious volume for a laptop. :bigthumb:

Being generous. Plus I have a Dell Inspiron 8200 (the 8200 refers to the weight in oz). Speakers on it are about 1.5-2". Can't tell through the case.

Yea, I broke out the ruler and checked, mine are 1" too. Still, it goes with what I said: laptop speakers are just too damned small to make big sounds (without introducing distortion).

still not true in all cases. if my wife wasn't asleep, i'd whip out the decibel meter and get hard numbers, but the JBL Pro speakers in mine, though small, somehow magically put out impressive volume with pretty decenty sound quality considering their small size and the fact that they're coming from a plastic box. they will esily go up loud enough (and with minimal audible distortion) to wake my wife and piss her off enough to come ask me to turn it down. :)
