Is there anybody that doesn't want to buy GM now that it's Gov owned?

How does this make the company different? Will they always own GM? Is it more risky or more secure? Does it change your outlook on the company in ANY way?

they went from offering massive discounts (6,000 off sticker on a cobalt) to offering the same shit they always did ($2500 off). Guess they don't need to make money anymore

Is the original question about wanting/not wanting socialism or wanting/not wanting to buy a GM car?

I don't like it but it won't keep me from buying their cars if it's what I want. When they stop producing what I want then I'll stop buying their cars.

Im am one of GM's biggest fans, I have owned a number of muscle cars and really like the new malibus and was hoping for good things with the new camaro. However, I will not be purchasing anything from GM until it is back out of the govt's control (which will prob never happen).

I respect Ford for telling the gov. to F-off and will prob. be giving them my business in the future if I like their cars.

I dont trust the govt with my taxes why the hell am I gonna give them more of my money. I wish them the best of luck and hope they can once again be a private corporation someday, but it will be without my help in the way of purchasing a car.

Since you're too dumb to read the entire question, I'll hilight the part you obviously missed.

It's not socialism when the government provides products and services. It's socialism when the government is the SOLE provider of products and services.

Nobody complains about the government owning the USPS (which is a corporation now, not a part of the government) and competing against UPS and FedEx. Hell, nobody complains about the government being the sole provider of flood insurance, since no private companies want to take the risk. Why not let the government own corporations that also provide banking services, insurance, and transportation? You know, things that everyone needs. All that matters is that they don't prevent privately-held corporations from competing in the market, and don't intentionally undercut those privately-held corporations for the purpose of running them into bankruptcy. It can only be good for the market to ensure that some of the competitors don't all answer to the same ten richest people in the country, because that prevents the competitors from all colluding together to "guide the market" in the direction that is most profitable for them.

    Use socialism in a Sentence
    –noun
    1. a theory or system of social organization that advocates the vesting of the ownership and control of the means of production and distribution, of capital, land, etc., in the community as a whole.

gov owning means of production = socialism thanks for playing

The ownership and control of the means of production and distribution isn't vested in the "community as a whole" so long as there are private individuals capable of competing against the "community as a whole". The government can own all the shit it wants, but if Bob Smith can sell the same widgets at a competitive price (including a tidy profit, of course) without getting arrested and dragged off to jail for sedition, then it's not socialism.

Not a fan of it but as long as they dont make major changes to the two things I like (Performance and Trucks) it wont matter to me since I'd never buy anything GM besides those in the first place.

i think if GM make a car that everyone wants no-one cares.

Do you think the tens of thousands who buy the Camaro care?

Unfortunately it's impossible to get that 'lightning in a bottle' all most of their cars.
