Sebastian Burns said that the more you arch on flat bench the more decline can help you.

I occasionally do them, but tend to do more rep work. I haven't done them enough to rid myself of the awkward feeling, but it's a great exercise for learning how to bring the bar low.

it's teh easiest of all the benching movements for me.. but I don't really do them.. i prefer weighted dips or using cables for decline work

I like decline... I feel like it really strengthened my shoulders and lockout on heavy flat bench

I once heard that decline requires less of shoulder involvement.:dunno:

something must be happening. It used to be very uncomfortable for me to hold a lot of weight on the bar for flat bench, now it feels fine

Would the decline be a good alternative to floor press for max effort days?
