I have a fradulent attempt to sell an item via craigslist where the seller posted an "ebay private auction" which did not use ebay's website.
Essentially this was a copy of what Ebay looks like, however the domain is a different one.
I did a whois.net report and found that the domain is registered to the individual trying to complete the sale.
Is there anybody to report this to? Should I talk to Ebay about it, the local authorities, or what?
    thx OT.

the whois.net report showed that the domain was purchased through GoDaddy (not someone I think Ebay would do business with) and had an individuals name as the registrant and not even an LLC or business.

I know there has to be a way to get this individual in trouble. How do I do it?

lol...well technically the seller stated that the item (pontoon boat) was located in New York and would ship to me for free (lol).

There were plenty things to tip me off to this being an illegit operation. I just want to make people pay for doing shit like this!

    1) Report it to [email protected], [email protected] and [email protected]. I usually just do abuse@ if its a big domain. I do this most every day.

    2) Report it to ebay or whatever forum/thing you're on.

    3) I've thought about reporting it to the FBI when they impersonate a federal agent but... I don't really want to deal with the FBI.

The least you can do is get the email reply-to shut down. I email abuse@ the domain the reply-to goes to, if I care.
