I have recently become interested in strongman type lifts

I just don't know where to start

I already do plenty compound lifts etc and know what im doing

I just dont know what it takes...and what kind of equipment?

Are there any cheap alternatives to the stuff like atlas stones, like, can I make my own and how? Just cement?

ive been getting a lot more interested in it as well. honestly i think one of the most important things is to get flat out strong :hs:; you dont need strongman equipment or that weird event-type stuff to do that. if your deadlift and grip strength are good Im pretty sure you will do well at events after not much time training. Also you need a good push press/push jerk. front squats and being good in the olympic lifts helps a lot.

ya I know about grip and push/pull strength

what i dont know is any specific programs that help with developing the strength specifically for this area

also, im not planning on making any fancy equipment, I was just curious if theres anything past the stones and stuff that I can do in a garage

will using one of those huge play balls as a mold and then filling up the mold with concrete work?

and how do I make sure theyre a weight i can handle until I get stronger?

you should go take a look at marunde-muscle. Just read a topic on there of a guy who did exactly that, made his own atlas stone in a couple days; around 220 lbs iirc

I lifted stones for the first time like a week ago, they are awkward to pick up:eek3:

I waited til I was alone in the gym so I would not look like to much of an ass :o
