I know you can get cables that will do the display, but how do I go about running audio through the tv's speakers and not from the laptop?

Any DVI->HDMI. don't buy monster. HDMI cables are almost all the same, and the cable degradation has to meet a set standard to be classified as HDMI.

You'll also need a M-DVI->DVI Adaptor if you have a MacBook.

Do you have a MBP? If not you will need an adapter to DVI.

    Yes he does.

And I'm wondering, is there a difference from DVI->DVI versus DVI->HDMI?

It's going from my Macbook Pro to my HDTV, but I'm pretty sure the HDTV only does 720p. It has 2 HDMI ports and 1 DVI port, I just ordered DVI to DVI but I'm wondering if I should change it to DVI to HDMI

i'd stick with dvi to dvi, that way you have the hdmi port for something else too

Doesn't DVI only carry visual while HDMI carries both?

I just use Connect 360 > Xbox 360 and it works well. The two cable/wire connection though is obviously cheaper and easier though.

I gave up on trying to get my movies to work on my 360. I paid for connect360, but none of my movies will work. They're all torrented, and they all SHOULD work, but they don't.

Are they hd rips? Xbox can only play hd rips that are in wmv. Most of the rips out there are other formats.

yes, but the dvi port on a tv is usually right next to an audio port.

They're all .avi and .mp4 etc. Idk someone else told me that they should be working but they don't.

Doesn't really matter, I just got boxee for my computer and depending on how using that goes over the next few weeks I'm probably going to end up buying an AppleTV
