I recently held and really liked the Walther PPS, but with all the reports of regular and +P ammo causing a spring to come undone and lock the slide back I'm wary of buying one for a single-stack/summer carry gun.

So this brings me back to the HK P7 PSP, which I've always been tempted to buy. There's one for sale with 2 mags and a Crossbreed Supertuck holster for $600 plus shipping. Seems to be one of the Grade B's with slide wear. Is this a fair price? Anything I should look for in buying a used P7?

I'm also not really convinced that I NEED anything right now. I'm considering buying a Saiga 7.62 and a conversion kit, then flipping it on Gunbroker to make the P7 PSP a little cheaper.

Help me spend this money that's burning a hole in my pocket WMD! :hsd:

Is there any reason you WOULDN'T buy a P7?

P7 isn't really comparable to the PPS sizewise.

    Closet to the G19.

$600 is pretty fair for a PSP. What should you look for? Extra mags.

As far as size is concerned, I'm talking more about the thickness, which is closer to the PPS than the G19.

CDNN has a few left for $589-674. I figure with mags going for $54/per and the holster worth ~60, this one is a pretty fair deal.

    Who makes night-sights for P7's?

Triji does, meprolight, and I think even XS might.

A P7 is the only HK pistol I still want. I think they are pretty neat.

Sweet, XS makes their BigDots for it.

I really like the concept of a fixed barrel and liked the squeeze cocking mechanism when I held one. The way I see it, if I end up not liking it (small chance) I can always sell it for what I've got into it.

Beautiful gun, but P7M8's are way out of my price range.

Width at the grips is within 1mm +/- of the G19, and the slide is barely noticable also.

:dunno: They do seem thinner when you hold them but they're not in your waistband.

if there's a H&K sack that's ridden to excess, it's the P7... Not even in production anymore, mags cost more and are harder to source than sig P6 mags, and non-fanboy reviews say "it's just another pistol..."

Oh and that's a good deal for that P7 package. Grade Bs went for $600 by themselves and one mag when they first came out a yearish ago. I'd pick it up as it's a fantastic carry gun.

Has anything gone wrong with yours? Anything I should watch for? What ammo do you carry in it?

No malfunctions with thousands of rounds through it. Only issue is that it gets hot after firing 100ish rounds quickly because it's a metal frame with no heat guard. I deal with that by just wearing Mechanix gloves... problem solved. :dunno:

I carry Speer Gold Dots in mine. No issues there either.

I  it and highly recommend it.

I keep going back and forth on this damned gun. I wish I could shoot one before dropping $600 on it. On one hand, its a very safe and revolutionary design. On the other, its a used police pistol from the 80's with expensive mags, limited parts availability, and doesn't work like any other pistol.

Plus the guy said his best price was $665 shipped which prompted me to spend the money on an Accupoint while eBay had 30% off. :hsd:

Ya, the P7M8 added a heat guard. It's not an issue with gloves though. :dunno:
