Its either the Middle Easterns or Russians painted as the bad guys, while the Americans are the good guys, liberators, blah blah blah, fuck them.

Kinda ironic, as the Americans are the ones that start wars and fuck shit up.

Is there a game in which the Russians are the good guys and the Americans are the bad guys and are beaten in the game?

This thread is about the Russians being the good guys, not about the Americans, so you got the analogy wrong.

I think the bigger issue here is how stale most video game stories are.

COD 1,2 and WAW. Of course, all of those games depict the Russian commanders as assholes willing to send their men out to certain death with no reservations about it whatsoever.

yeah this is true, and one of the things I really enjoyed about eternal darkness was the focus on story and gameplay.

Seems like either the devs focus on one or the other and at the end of the day most people will choose good gameplay and bad story over bad gameplay and good story.
