    I've been with this girl for 10 months or so, and as ridiculous as this may or may not sound, I have never used the word love in reference to her. This is not for any particular good reason, other than that I am somewhat scared of the word and have not used it in the past. Could I be stirring a hornets nest by dropping it now?

    Do you love her? If so, then say it with no regrets.

    Huge motzah ball you have hanging out there if the feelings are not mutual. Hell, I told my wife after 8 days, so who am I to say anything?

    this girl is mostly quiet, and would wait for me to say it anyways

    it is also a huge mozza ball having not said it after 10 months in my opinion :o

    I guess the important thing is to not force it and wait for the right time

    just don't say it too frequently, or pretty soon she will expect to hear it constantly

    Meh. It's just a word in my opinion. People put too much weight on whether to say it or not. I tell my friends I love them all the time, even those I'm not particularly close with. What truly matters is the meaning behind the word and that is defined by your actions not your words.

    you: "I love you"
    her: ::weird look::
    you: "I'm just kidding, we should break up"

    I keed, I keed.

    Say it if you want. You never know if she's holding back because she's nervous (much like you are).

    However, to answer your question, yes there are downsides. But those will usually arise if you are premature with telling her. 10 months ain't too premature.

    Go for it!

    Yeah, go for it, but don't do it on Christmas, that's so cliche. DO IT NOW! If you feel it and mean it, say it and rejoice! Life is about taking risks, after 10 months, this is a good calculated risk.
