I just need something like ms paint to edit a few photos. I haven't had a chance to put ps on the new machine yet.

I need to be able to do a little more than iphoto allows and it is much less basic operationwise than ms paint it's more like picture viewer.

Not really. It's all under wraps and is only a rumor to them until something is revealed. It has supposed to actually been worked on for a couple of years now, ready for release at any moment incase Adobe pull Photoshop support. With Adobe pulling any future releases of Elements for the Mac and now pulling any Photoshop releases for the intel based Macs until 2007, I'm sure that Apple is seriously considering releasing it, but I doubt they will until it is absolutely necessary. I would think that Apple would release a watered down version with iLife just to test the market first (i.e. iPhoto, then releasing Aperature years later).

Yeah, but it's not just with photoshop, FCP pretty much put an end to Premiere on macs, and they have both motion and shake that compete with after effects.

Wow you must be really incompetent to not be able to successfully use MS Paint for BASIC image editing. Thanks for your response and utterly useless post. :ugh2:

if by basic you mean resizing, then ok. but basic image editing refers to cropping, resizing, brightness/contrast and minor touch ups, which is not a staple of paint.
I said use gimp. if you would have pulled that dick out of your ass before you decided to respond, you would have seen that I referred you, along with others, to what you asked for in your original post. :fawk2:

I have never used it but I was listening to a podcast where they were talking about a version that mimicked the layout and tools of photoshop so closely, that if you are just a casual user, you would think it was Photoshop.

actually, in apps, there is a somewhat old-school image editng program called "graphicconverter"

its very very basic, and lacks layers (i think?), but its below ps, and above iphoto and mspaint

Is there any way to activate X11 without the install disc? I don't feel like digging it up.
