If so, why are there always soooo many for sale (doesn't matter the version) and people always seem to snag them up quick.

I was thinking about picking up a new MK2 for $50 with a UV filter from a guy on CR... says never used and with box and all.. but they are $69 at Canoga.

Is it worth it just to have another piece in the bag ???

It's better than nothing and a shitton better than the kit lens. A lot of people find they like the lens so much they upgrade to the 1.4 and the 1.8's build quality is woefully $70 which is why you see a lot of them for sale. They're a chiefly noob lens, but are fantastically sharp.

it's cheap for a fast lens. i want to get one but can never snatch one up. btw, every lens is always up for sale. people buy things, find out it's not what they want, or buy something better and sell them. the tamron 28-75mm is an example. people even have been selling d300's after owning it for less than a month. either to get a d3 or i dont know what :mamoru:

it's a good lens, but I wished I would have just saved a little extra and bought the f/1.4 right off the bat.

its worth it due to the low price. nice pictures for the cost and minimal weight.

cons are that the AF motor is noisy and it is a bit flimsy, feels like a toy that can break

I never liked that focal length. I picked up a 85 1.8 and love it. Go to your local camera store and try them out.

for $60? Shit yeah. It's a fun lens for that cheap.

I've never used the 1.4, but at 5x the price, i'd try out the 1.8 first anyway.

it's not the be-all-end-all, but for the price? definitely worth a purchase.
