not trying to troll at all. you guys are in the military so i figure you know more about its capabilities/weaknesses/strategies/etc than the average person.

the us spends almost 10 times as much as the next highest country (china) on its military.

for all that money, are we 10 times better?

Some capabilities are more expensive than others and the US has a lot of capabilities the Chinese dont. But its impossible to quantify, especially without the definition of what 'better' means in this discussion.

But yes, training and doctrine, equipment etc are all better than the Chinese.

    In terms of manpower? No.

In terms of technology, tactical training, and firepower? Yes.

Remember we have the best Navy and an Air Force with a 10:1 ratio.

Building an military from scratch is easy and cheap when compared to maintaining a military. Especially when you are maintaining the #1 military in the world while other countrys are able to mold their military to defeat the #1. Basically we are behind naturally. But bottom line, we go against China, mano a mano, we win.

    More than 10 times.

When everything works together, the combat arms side, the logistical side, the intelligence side, the aviation side, etc...I firmly believe there is no one who can compare.

It's the combined efforts of doctrine, training, planning, and force that can only be witnessed from inside that display this.

Specially nowadays that we have more of a Joint Operations mindset.

I think we easily are and as technology and joint doctrine becomes more the norm and all of the services become more intertwined in terms of communication, we will be even further ahead of the rest of the world

We will never have all of the manpower that the Chinese has to draw from. Ever. So the only way we can win against them is through technology, tactics, and training. All of which cost more money than something like a human wave (which the Chinese are very good at).

I partially agree with you. I think Israel would give us a pretty severe whipping if they didn't have to rely on us for weapons and money. Something about being completely surrounded by enemies all the time that makes a military pretty damn good at what they do. Plus, they're some ruthless SOBs.

Are you serious? :ugh: Just the Marine Corps alone is bigger than the whole Israeli Defense Forces. Now add our Army, Navy, Airforce, and even our Coast Guard, and it's over. Not that the Marine Corps alone couldn't take care of them. ;) And yes, they are some hardcore motherfuckers too.

Oh don't get me wrong, I am confident we could take them. But, pound for pound, they are probably the toughest military on the planet. We just have larger numbers. I do think they would put a good hurtin on us in the process though. Gotta watch out for the little guys. Especially when they have similar technology, and train all of their people down to the most basic infantryman like they were special forces.

Having not served in the Chinese armed forces I would have no idea, however I am confident in our abilities.

I'm not disputing that that they are some hardcore motherfuckers, BUT they would not put a "good hurting" on us like what's his face is saying. Sure we would take casualties most likely. But to say we would get some kind of beating by them, prez please.
