Looking at the Canon 70-200 f2.8. Not sure whether to buy the IS or non-IS version. I'll be using this lens mainly at baseball games and outdoor trips. What do you guys think?

it doesn't stop movement, so its somewhat useless for sports

So, is image stabilization is only good for non-moving objects (targets)?

No, it's good for things that don't change shape while moving. Like airplanes, and cars.

lets say you're shooting sports, you need a high shutter speed to stop movement, IS only helps prevent camera shake from the tele lens aspect. I'd rather have good clean iso 3200 than IS in a lens for sports. For other aspects yeah IS is worth its weight in gold, like weddings. I have to hand hold it in extreme low light and its a savior
