So I bought into the hype and perhaps the marketing but mostly word of mouth about how awesome the d40 is. I picked up a d40 over a month ago and have slowly been learning about all aspects of photography and all that goes with it. I've been looking at lenses for a while now and realize how screwed over we are with this AF-S business. identical lenses but one being af-s and one being whatever else will have such a huge price gap and yet unless im willing to manual focus fulltime i'll have to pay 2-3x the price in most cases. case in point the fixed focal nikon 50mm 1.8d vs it's AF-S brother. is it like this with the other camera manufacturers?
