I went out tonight and when I turned on my headlights the passengers side flickered for a sec then died. I turned my lights off then back on and it would only flicker for a sec then die.

whats the average life of your typical HID? My car only has 88K now.

    Help please! :wtc:

    Ballast most likely, I'd think....

I might be wrong though....I heard HIDs turn this reddish color before they die.

It depends on how long they've been used and whether or not you turn them on and off frequently or not. HIDs need to warm up and they don't like being turned on and off without getting a chance to do so. So if you like turning on your HIDs all the time and/or have auto headlights that turn on under overpasses/trees then that'll shorten the life considerably.

Switch the bulbs to see if it works in the other side. If it does work, replace the ballast; if it doesn't, replace the bulb.

You checked to see if the bulb worked first? Ballasts aren't cheap. Between $100-$200. Just do a search online and I wouldn't buy used, but that's me. If you can afford to drive an E46 you can afford to buy a new ballast...
