    Hello,

I just bought a new computer and when I play games like CS my framerate drops to around 15FPS when there is smoke or lots of people around. On my old computer it ran CS better as the framerate did not go down as much. So, I was wondering if it was the Celeron.

    Specs:

    Celeron 2.4 Ghz
    P4P8X MBoard
    512RAM
    ATI 9200SE 128MB
    80 GB HD

I was thinking of getting a P4 2.66 with Hyperthreading if that would make a difference. Thanks

It sounds like a video card problem, but from the looks of the specs, your video card seems fine.

The processor and RAM do play a part in game performance, but you look ok there too... Have you tried to defrag your hard drive.

I'm really against having a drive that large as a master... It doesn't ever seem to work out too well for me at least. I'd usually put a small drive (max 40 gigs) as a master and use a bigger for the slave.

I run a 1.7 Celeron, 512 megs of RAM, w/ a GeForce II MX-400 video card and every single game pay great on my machine and I can crank everything up no problem...
