Fallout 3 for me was by far the best RPG Action game I've ever played.

Is ME2 better? Or is it morel ike MGS4 with 20 minute cut-scenes every 5 minutes?

They're really along the same lines. Just different background story/future. Not as many story altering decisions to make in ME2 as in Fallout 3 like being able to nuke a town, but with ME1, 2, and 3, the stories are tied together in the long run. Things you do in ME1 affect the story in ME2, and the same should happen with ME3.

Fallout 3 is a better game, but ME2 is still excellent.

Fallout 3 is great if you like more open areas, but I fucking love Mass Effect

hard to say. mass effect is more polished I guess, but both are awesome. I think ME2 could easily be game of the year, no matter what comes out this fall. :o

It's really nothing like Fallout 3. The genre is the same, but everything else is polar opposites. You don't have nearly the same freedom in ME2 as you do in Fallout, and the actual missions are very linear.

That being said, just buy it. You won't regret it.

for me it goes dragon age > mass effect > fallout 3 but i really enjoyed all of them. Im just really not all that into the open exploration of a huge, mostly barren wasteland thing. I prefer the more involving story and characters with a linear direction type thing that the bioware games do.

But if your favorite part of fallout was just spending hours exploring then you will probably continue to like that best.

I'm actually going to finish my FO3 play-through (bought the GOTY edition after finishing the vanilla game before any DLC was ever out) that I'm working on now before I start into ME2.

I loved ME1, despite its small flaws. I'm hoping ME2 leaves me just as enthralled.

Hmm, I wonder why you like FO3 so much. I can't see what theme could possibly be similar to your real-life profession. :mamoru:

Any game released during the beginning of the year gets forgotten later for GOTY consideration.

Fallout 3 is more RPGish than ME2, but they are both equally fun to play.

This is too close to call, they are very different games... FO3 is longer, if not only because of all the time you spend aimlessly wandering around the wasteland. I have had ME2 for 3 days now, almost 30 hours in and I think I am nearing the end based on the progression of upgrades and my character levels and skill points almost being maxed out.

With that said I think I was initially much more impressed with ME2 than FO3, and felt more compelled to spend long periods of time playing it, it was harder to put down.

    FO3 is better.

The feel is better, the environment is better. But ME2 is right up there.

Fallout has better rpg elements, much better customization, and much more reason to explore.

Mass effect looks cooler with awesome environments that unfortunately have nothing special to find in them . Mass effect has much cooler bosses also.

the story line and what not is a matter if you like space or wasteland better. Mass effect is much more linear and it uses the same formula found in previous games ( go here find character and then do characters 1 special quest)

Here is a warning tho: the Steam Fallout 3 GOTY edition is BUGGED like shit. I´m talking about: some SPECIAL points decrease instead of increase, missing characters, the radar most of the time works, sometimes it doesn´t... At least, you know that you have the console and an incredible amount of mods to fix most problems
