Okay...I know this may sound like a stupid question...but some body-and he is a retard, thats why I gotta check the info-told me that heavy lifting would slow my punches/kicks down. Now I've seen some UFC fights...and some of those dudes are pretty big. Is this bad information? This kid used to be a boxer...but I don't want to just take one guys advice.

Besides, he may have taken one too many to the head, anyway. (he aint right )

No. That person is an idiot.

EDIT: Actually, he's right. Ask Mike Tyson. He was slow as could be. :mamoru:

Lifting weights compliments martial arts. I did some martial arts for a while and I train dynamically now. People can not believe how fast I am or how far I can jump.

Not taking anything away from the man, but there are a lot better ways for me to spend my time in the gym than throwing curls and leg curls into a circuit. :coolugh:

Yes, and you should definitely take before and after pics because the "pin test" will have some desirable effects and we should see them to note good progress.

maybe he meant being too bulky may prevent you from being as quick?

this is probably what he meant. I think thats what Maine meant, about me being a girl? But My arms do seem to bulk a little more than most girls. I haven't been lifting long, they're pretty good size.

i don't think getting too bulky will be a problem for the vast majority of martial artists.

just remember that weights are only a third of the equation.. you'll need to work on your aerobic conditioning and flexibility as well. they're all equally important.

Just don't go doing stupid ass shit like punching with dumbbells in your hand. Anyone who does that sort of crap is clueless.
