Obviously it's making money, but not the kind of money that was expected. Wednesday it was defeated at the BO by Narnia (a stronger performer) so what do you think...has Kong been a disappointment

You shouldn't let box office results determine if a movie is a disapointment or not

When I first saw the preview for King Kong I didn't want to see it. Then I read that Peter Jackson said something along the lines of King Kong being the reason he came into film making, to remake it himself. I figured if that was his whole purpose for being a director that it was worth seeing. I wasn't dissapointed. :)

It was good, but I actually preferred Narnia.

    Another reality apparently
when i went, by the end of the movie half the people had left, and those that stayed weren't impressed.

They had 3 theaters showing it here the wednesday-saturday it opened, sunday it dropped down to 1 theater. That never happens around here, but it just had a horrible showing.

Other than online, ive yet to hear someone talk great about the movie.

It wasnt bad, just way overhyped, and way to long. It doesnt even compare to his work on LOTR though.

i thought king kong was one of the best films i've seen in a while. it held my attention more so than narnia did, but narnia was definitely still a great flick too :bigthumb:

Went to see it last night, apart from an extremely numb arse due to 3 hours with barely any movement it was an excellent movie. Yes there were parts which were a bit corney but it was sheer entertainment. The effects are jaw dropping and its a brilliant film, I really felt for Kong in the end

well. I'd say alot of it has to do with the story. I mean, King Kong obviously's got nothing on LOTR. I've yet too see it but I'll definatley go check it out soon enough.

There were more dinosaurs than I expected. It's kinda like Jurassic park III (or 4) for a bit in the middle there.

its not declared a "flop" just yet. It'll make some money in the international market and DVD. I'd say it wasn't bound to make 300 milll domestically from the get go.

I don't think it was as good as I had hoped.

Not really a flop. Made $500m globally so far so at least theyve made a profit. Not a humonguos one but a profit at that, taking into the advertising etc.

King Kong is an excellent movie regardless of box office numbers.

I wanted to see it at the movies but I don't know if I can sit in a cheap cinema seat for 3+ hours.

Thank God for big screen TV's.
