I think I'm again ready to collect comics.

I have been an avid Marvel fan for as long as I could read, and only stopped January 06 because my faithful comic store closed down unexpectedly [the owner, a 45 year old comic fan fell for a 17 year old cheerleader, and lost his place because he gave he all of his money, and then allegedly fled town when things got 'too deep']. I was hurt, and so I couldn't bring myself to touch another comic book.

So I have not touched a comic book for a year and 9 months, and so I was wondering.... should I start again?

I collected all things Marvel, and picked up a few DC story lines that interested me. This is the first time that I have been completely in the dark about what's happening in the comic world. So I do I continue to let myself slip further away, and rejoin you all with a vengeance? :hsugh:

    wtf, start reading again.

Civil War is AMAZING. Quesada is doing great things with Marvel. DC is doing great things with Vertigo.

...yea, I had a gay moment (what do you expect :squint: ). But I really am interesting in hearing all of what I messed out on. I guess that I need to order trades from January 05, or should I just dive right in to what happening now??

For Marvel I'd pick up at least the following TPBs:
    1) Avengers Disassembled
    2) House of M
    3) Spider-Man the Other

Then I'd read up on New Avengers and start reading Civil War and all the tie ins.

Have to agree with Axio. Come back into the fold. You'll love Civil War.

If you can buy the trades or backissues, but all means, do it. However, if it is impossible, then I would recommend looking at the .cbr files of the aforementioned stories.

I thought of WCW and Vader Time upon reading this thread.

    It's pretty late.

Civil War which is like Marvel's take on current events. Then there's The Ultimates which is really good.

Well, I have a special controlled storage locker in the States with every comic that I have ever collected...which includes Ultimate Spiderman until (I'm trying to remember) venom or carnage came on the scene and killed someone close to Peter, and then Ultimate X-Men (I randomly checked out a .cbr file (issue after David/Legion was killed) and I had read it already), and the Ultimates up to about where a whole bunch of villains got together and unleashed a shit-load of drama... So pretty much all that I have missed of interest is Civil War? I'll have to order that to my place in the States. I will not be able to read anything until I get back home (Dec 24th). So I'll look for some trades...

Thanks guys. I guess I'll add this sub-forum to those that I actively check out.
