Is it stupid to take protein shakes if you're trying to lose weight?

    I started working out again about 3 weeks ago.....I'm seeing nice improvements, lost about 10-12 lbs so far.

    the one thing that I can't seem to get enough of in my diet is protein, and I know how important it is...


    so is it worth drinking a protein shake if I'm cutting calories and trying to lose weight?


    and yea I know it's a fairly dumb question :o

    Its not dumb as long as you are still running an caloric deficet. It it still important to get enough protein even when you are cutting and you probably need the protein shakes to get enough protein into your system.

    Unless you want to lose a lot of muscle mass, I'd keep protein intake high.

    it's something like 1gram per pound of body weight right?

    fuck I don't even come close to that on a good day :wtc:

    Definetly do the protein shakes. Stick with a shake that has low fat, low carbs, and high protein of course. Its a win win situation.

    High levels of protein are important when u are cutting, so yes you should probably be taking shakes. As long as you are running a caloric deficit you should lose weight.
